Zusammenfassung: | BackgroundAtrial Fibrillation is associated with other Cardiac arrhythmias. Diffuse ventricular fibrosis has been associated with atrial fibrillation which may serve as a nidus for the development of Paroxysmal Ventricular Tachycardia. However, the association of Atrial Fibrillation with Ventricular Tachycardia has not yet been explored.MethodsNationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) was used from 2002 and 2007-2012. Total 588,302 Atrial Fibrillation( AF) admissions and 496,676 other cardiac arrhythmia admissions were analyzed for their association with Paroxysmal Ventricular Tachycardia (PVT). Validated International Classification of diseases, 9th revision and clinical modification (ICD-9-CM) codes was used. The data was analyzed through unpaired t test, the odds ratio, Pearson coefficient and linear regression.Results3% of the AF patients had the diagnosis of Paroxysmal Ventricular tachycardia vs. 2% of patients with other cardiac arrhythmias had the diagnosis of PVT, odds ratio 1.51 (95% CI 1.47-1.55), p |
