Zusammenfassung:IntroductionLeft atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) might be particularly attractive in CKD patients, owing to a high risk of thromboembolic (TE) events and an even higher risk of bleeding.HypothesisWe sought to evaluate the safety and efficacy of LAAO for stroke and bleeding prevention in patients with CKD.MethodsA total of 367 patients undergoing LAAO at 2 centres were enrolled in a prospective registry. On the basis of kidney function, as assessed via the CKD-EPI formula, patients were classified in two groups. Patients in Group1 had a glomerular filtration rate value ≤60mL/min/1.73m (CKD stages 3, 4, and 5), whereas patients in Group2 had a function >60mL/min/1.73m (CKD stages 1 and 2). Predicted annual rates of TE events or major bleeding were compared to the annualized observed risk of the two populations.ResultsCompared to Group2 (n=263, 55.9% males), patients in Group1 (n=104, 46.1% males) were older (mean age77±7 vs 72±9, p
