5-fluorouracil and derivatives in cancer chemotherapy III: in vivo enhancement of antitumor activity of 5-fluorouracil (fu) and 5-fluoro-2′-deoxyuridine (fudr)
The antitumor activity of 5‐fluorouracil (FU) and 5‐fluoro‐2′‐deoxyuridine (FUDR) has been enhanced in mice in the presence of deoxyribose donors such as 2′‐deoxyuridine (UDR). Based upon in vitro data, it appears that the enhancement is due to the conversion of 5‐fluorouracil to 5‐fluoro‐2′‐deoxyur...

Zusammenfassung: | The antitumor activity of 5‐fluorouracil (FU) and 5‐fluoro‐2′‐deoxyuridine (FUDR) has been enhanced in mice in the presence of deoxyribose donors such as 2′‐deoxyuridine (UDR). Based upon in vitro data, it appears that the enhancement is due to the conversion of 5‐fluorouracil to 5‐fluoro‐2′‐deoxyuridine in blood and the stabilization of 5‐fluoro‐2′‐deoxyuridine due to the presence of 2′‐deoxyuridine. |
