Zusammenfassung:Three‐dimensional distortion is apparent in the hexagonal arrangement of the surface Cl atoms in crystalline αRuCl3, as revealed by scanning tunneling microscopy. A hexagonal superlattice is clearly apparent at room temperature (see illustration at right; open and filled circles, Cl; triangles, Ru). The observed distortion is probably a consequence of weak interactions between paired Ru atoms immediately below the crystalline surface.
