Zusammenfassung: | As a key technology for the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into useable renewable energy, gasification technologies have been investigated for several years. Together with pyrolysis and combustion, gasification is a very efficient thermo‐chemical conversion method for solid fuels with high volatile matter like biomass. This chapter analyses the performance of various gasification technologies for lignocellulosic biomass based on the literature survey. As an endothermic process, the gasification reaction requires gasifying agents, heat, and fuels that are subjected to various steps such as drying, devolatilization, reduction or gasification, and partial oxidation or controlled combustion. Recently, the co‐gasification of coal and biomass was shown to be a very practical approach in terms of enlarging plant capacity or using limited biomass resources in a conventional coal gasifier. Fixed bed gasifiers are the simplest reactors equipped with a mechanical device to remove ash from the bottom. |
