Zusammenfassung: | The most common methods for stationary hydrogen storage are as compressed gaseous hydrogen, cryogenic liquid hydrogen, and in metal hydrides. This chapter gives a general overview of the field of application for stationary hydrogen storage. It then explains some important storage parameters. The chapter concentrates on the description of different storage vessel types that can be located above ground or buried a few meters below the earth's surface. As well as technical data some cost estimates and economic targets are also presented. Liquefaction of hydrogen is a well‐established technology, which is especially applied in space exploration and science. However, liquefaction is an energy intensive process. The chapter also describes the different types of containment for storing liquefied hydrogen. Finally, it provides a technical assessment of the storage efficiency and capacity of selected storage facilities with respect to the daily hydrogen demand of a fueling station. |
