Ben Wellington realized that his lifelong passion for improvisational comedy, a hobby from age 13, influenced his storytelling style. Journalists are powerful, convincing storytellers who can harness the power of data to convey their story with new meaning. For most people, presentations will be the predominant medium they use to communicate points with data. Prevalent in meetings across the world, presentations certainly have their drawbacks, but when used properly, they can be incredibly effective storytelling mechanisms, especially when the story is supported by data. In both Demo Day and classical pitches, the entrepreneur's goal is to engender a sense of urgency to invest in the business: that the team has identified a new opportunity that will address a multibillion‐dollar market and create an enduring and category‐defining business. |
