Cloud Migration and Planning for Retention

Organizations that are planning to move their business operations to a cloud based model need to plan ensure they continue to meet their obligations for document and data retention. Many cloud solutions offer archival services, however, the organization needs to be aware of what is being stored, and for how long, to ensure they are not merely creating a perpetual database of data that will eventually become cumbersome and difficult to navigate. Additional care must be applied to ensure that document and data destruction protocols extend to the cloud, including procedures to hold those policies in the event of litigation.
