BUILD YOUR STRATEGY

This chapter, focuses on asking (and answering) the following key questions relative to folding cybersecurity considerations into the overall corporate strategy: 1. Where are we now? 2. What do we have to work with? 3. Where do we want to be? 4. How do we get there? After addressing these key questions, the chapter discusses how to articulate corporate strategy and vision of the future. Many organizations use a vision statement, a mission statement, and core values as touchstones of their strategy. The chapter expands specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely (SMART) factors. It identifies issue that can contribute to strategy failure, such as poor plans and poor execution, lack of communication, resistance to change, and lack of leadership and oversight. There are three distinct levels such as strategic, operational and tactical that ought to be considered when creating the plans to implement strategy.
