Zusammenfassung: | This chapter addresses the inference of relatedness, starting with paternity testing, taking into account that the mother's genotype may or may not be available and also allowing for mutation and linkage. We then move on to more general inferences of relatedness, both for two individuals alone and when the genotypes of some known relatives are also available, as well as database searches for relatives of a profiled individual. Finally, we discuss the possibility of inferring ethnicity and visual phenotypes, using both forensic STRs and more specialised systems. |
