Zusammenfassung:This chapter argues that critics, while acknowledging the muddy distinction between race and ethnicity, can still aspire to more precision, with ethnicity being understood as being primarily focused on resemblances and race on differences. It develops this point by exploring the history of the two terms as terms, and then concludes with a discussion of biopower, Foucault's provocative concept for understanding the ways in which modern power operates. A focus on race in particular is especially important for understanding the relevance of this concept in the contemporary world.
