Zusammenfassung:Theories behind light receiving and emitting components are reviewed. Charge‐coupled device (CCD) and complementary metal‐oxide‐semiconductor (CMOS) technologies in image sensors are compared. Passive/active pixel sensors, and read‐out circuits for CMOS image sensors are explored. Photo‐receivers and laser diode drivers operated at 1GHz are demonstrated. Photo responses of three CMOS photodiodes are presented.
