Zusammenfassung:Promising materials for operation under extreme conditions (at very high or very low temperatures, pressures, speeds, stresses, in radiative fluxes, and gas streams) are alloys containing elements such as boron, carbon, nitrogen, silicon, which form compounds with the metals (borides, carbides, nitrides, silicides). Alloys based on these compounds are used successfully in electronics, nuclear power generation, in semiconductor and dielectric techniques, in space engineering, machine construction, metallurgy, in the chemical industry, and in electrical engineering. Of particular interest are compounds of metals with nitrogen, i.e., nitrides, many of which are highly refractory, compositionally stable in various aggressive media, wear resistant, hard, and have other special properties.
