Zusammenfassung:•Cluster analysis highlights groups at risk of burnout among nurses and care assistants for older people.•Three intermediate profiles of burnout among healthcare assistants and nurses caring for geriatric patients were identified.•Years in nursing career more than chronological age were related to specific dimensions of burnout.•The profiles of burnout derived from a cluster analysis may use to personalize interventions. The twofold purpose of this study was to identify specific burnout patterns among nurses and care assistants for older people, and to determine whether these profiles differ according to socioprofessional variables. A sample of 279 healthcare professionals completed an online survey comprising the Maslach Burnout Inventory and socioprofessional items.
