Zusammenfassung:[Display omitted] •Fu-1 zeolite was successfully obtained from different diatomite as raw materials.•The final products presented a hierarchical pore system and lower Si/Al ratio than the reference material.•The calcination of the material slightly altered the Fu-1 structure. In this research work, we have studied the influence of an alternative raw source for the synthesis of zeolite Fu-1. The reference material with commercial raw sources are available since 1980s and have been studied intermittently along 1990s. Our decision to continue its study drove to the acquisition of a hierarchical material with a lower Si/Al ratio that the reference material. Besides, we are discussing some results from the characterization techniques (e.g. X-ray diffraction, microscopy) and comparing with the reference material.
