Sinha et al. observe and suggest that decreases in the levels of Ruminococcaceae and secondary bile acids (SBAs) contribute to pouchitis in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients with ileal pouch anal anastomosis (IPAA), raising the possibility of using SBAs as a preventative measure.
