Zusammenfassung:During the last two decades, the significance of the Dominican cooperatives has increased. The national cooperative movement has strengthened its position: it publishes its own newspaper, El Cooperador, and the economic turnover of the country’s cooperatives has grown spectacularly (CONACOOP 2018:3–15). This is in accordance with the picture in many other nations. As Alice Rose Bryer (2012:23) put it some years ago, “it is widely recognized that the macro-economic significance of these business entities [cooperatives and other ‘participatory’ economic forms] has increased rapidly in the last decade, with Europe and Latin America as key centres of growth.” In the
