What Can I Possibly Say and Ask For at This Moment?

Poised on the border between life and death, more certain that I won’t live than that I shall, I wish to take leave of my friends and works. Work of ten years put together, torn up and resumed, I endeavored to exhibit my pictures, particularly the exhibition Portrait of a Jewish Child. Now, insofar as possible, I am trying to rescue whatever I can and as much as will fit in[to the tin boxes that are about to be buried].
