Zusammenfassung:The peculiar absence of a need for molecular oxygen raised the question whether cyanide-insensitive respiration could be found in Sch. japonicus . In this study the sensitivity to cyanide of the respiration rate of Sch. japonicus has been compared with that of several other yeasts; not only respiratory-deficient strains were included, but also respiration-sufficient strains from which respiratory-deficient strains had been obtained.
