Transplacental transmission of BTV-8 in sheep: BTV viraemia, antibody responses and vaccine efficacy in lambs infected in utero

Highlights • BTV-8 did not induce persistent infection or immunotolerance. • Foetal infection with BTV-8 did not interfere with BTV-8 vaccine efficacy. • Foetal infection with BTV-8 afforded protection against BTV-8 challenge.
