Zusammenfassung:Endocarp morphology of 14 species of mainly African Celtis was examined using light and scanning electron microscopy. Macro and micro morphological characters included endocarp shape, colour, size, surrounding rim and SEM examination of the outer layer of the endocarp. Different classes of shape and sculpture were recognised. A key for the identification of the investigated taxa based on endocarp characters is provided.
