Zusammenfassung: | This article examines the transmission history of Griplur, a medieval set of rímur of Hrómundur Gripsson (Greipsson), a legendary hero from Norway and, according to Landnámabók, a forefather of the first settlers of Iceland, Ingólfur and Leifur. The rímur, which originate in the late Middle Ages, are preserved mainly in post-medieval manuscripts, and many of them have been ignored in the previous scholarship. The article presents the first study of all Griplur manuscripts with the focus on their contents and textual relationships, which lays the ground for a new critical edition of this work.
