Output control device for internal combustion engine

An electronic control unit calculates a target output torque of an internal combustion engine based on a manipulation amount of an accelerator pedal , a vehicle speed, and a state of a transmission gear ratio of an automatic continuously variable transmission , and calculates a target opening of a throttle valve based on the calculated target output torque. If the current value of the transmission gear ratio of the automatic continuously variable transmission is smaller than a predetermined value, the target opening of the throttle valve calculated based on the target output torque is limited to be less than or equal to a preset upper limit.
