The α-silyl terminated polymers correspond to the general formula (I): in which Ris a linear or branched alkyl or alkoxy group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Rand Rindependently of one another are linear or branched alkyl groups containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Rand Rindependently of one another are divalent organic connecting groups, Ris a hydrophobic divalent polymer group; and Ris a CHSiR(OR)(OR) group, in which R, Rand Rhave the above meaning or Rstands for a group that lends the polymer of the general formula (I) the property of self-emulsification in water by forming an oil in water emulsion.
