Zusammenfassung: | An apparatus and a method configured for the efficient delivery of a viscous material, such as bone cement, to a surgical site are described. A housing removably receives a large gauge syringe which is filled with the viscous material. The apparatus is a syringe-type assembly that uses at least one vibrating motor together with a plunger rod assembly. The method employs the continuous application of vibrational forces to the central barrel portion of the apparatus during the time that the viscous material is being delivered and/or applied in vivo. The vibration to the central barrel portion increases the tendency of the viscous material to flow thereby making delivery of such materials easier and more efficient. |
