The image intensifier comprises a layer of electrically isolated electrode segments each able to receive an electrical potential independently of the other electrode segments. The electrode segments may be coated onto an inner surface of an entrance window and each of the electrode segments is coated with a photocathode segment. Alternatively, the electrode segments are positioned between a photocathode layer and a micro channel plate. |
