Method for preventing or controlling the occurrence of stains on wood

The present invention refers to a method for treating wood in order to prevent or to control the occurrence of stains thereon. The invention is particularly directed to a treatment for preventing the occurrence of sapwood stains. The present invention refers to a method for treating wood in order to prevent or control the occurrence of stains such as sapwood stains, the method comprising a step of heating green wood in a moisture-saturated environment until the wood core temperature is in a range of about 60 degrees C. to 95 degrees C., followed by a step of gradually cooling the wood, wherein the wood is maintained in an environment with moisture contents ranging from 95% to 100% during said cooling step.
