Cylinder having clamping shaft and shaft arresting device

The present invention is directed to a device for clamping and/or tensioning. More specifically, the present invention is specifically directed to a device for clamping or tensioning a plate or a packing on a cylinder. A device that is useable to clamp a rotatable shaft or spindle and which is provided with cams or pressure pieces, to retain or to tension packings on a cylinder, is provided. The shaft or spindle can be both rotated about an axis of rotation, as well as clamped against rotation by the device. The device can be pivoted with respect to the shaft or spindle about a pivot axis which is essentially perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the shaft or spindle. The pivotable device can be provided as a pawl or lever that interacts with a pair of stops to hold it in a shaft or spindle locking position.
