Zusammenfassung:This application claims the priority of German Patent 199 27 846.6, filed Jun. 18, 1999, the disclosure of which is expressly incorporated by reference herein. A method of monitoring an internal combustion engine by continuously computing pressure values of the cylinders from current parameters of the engines by using a mathematical model. At each point in time, there are both a computed pressure value and a measured pressure value, which are compared in order to provide information concerning the condition of a pressure sensor and to deactivate a faulty pressure sensor and use the computed pressure values for further operation of the engine.
