A process including preparing a polyurethane in the presence of a catalyst which is a bicyclic amidine of the formula: wherein A is selected from the group consisting of -CRR-CRR-CRR-, -CRR-CRR-CRR-CRR-, and -CRR-CRR-CRR-CRR-CRR-, wherein the substituents in A are in each case numbered starting from the nitrogen atom, and B is selected from the group consisting of -CRR-CRR-, -CRR-CRR-CRR-, and -CRR-CRR-CRR-CRR-, and Rto Rare, in each case independent of one another, hydrogen, C-C-alkyl, aryl, or C-C-alkyl that is substituted with hydroxyl, amino, C-C-alkylamino or mercapto, with the proviso that at least one of the substituents Rto Ris (1) hydroxyl, (2) amino, (3) C-C-alkylamino, (4) mercapto, (5) C-C-alkyl substituted with hydroxyl, (6) C-C-alkyl substituted with amino, (7) C-C-alkyl substituted with C-C-alkylamino, (8) C-C-alkyl substituted with mercapto, and (9) at least two of (1) to(8). |
