Zusammenfassung:A water base ink for ink-jet recording contains a dispersible coloring agent, a propylene glycol ether, and a surfactant composed of a random copolymer represented by the following general formula (1): R-O-((CH 2 CH 2 O) n .(CHCH 3 CH 2 O) m )-H   (1) wherein R represents an alkyl group having a number of carbon atoms of 3 to 5, and m=n=50 is satisfied in the general formula (1). The ink satisfies three requirements of i) the satisfactory initial introduction performance of the ink into an ink flow passage of a stacked type printer head, ii) the prevention of the occurrence of feathering, and iii) the prevention of the insufficient spread of the ink.
