Zusammenfassung:[EN] Microalgae cultures are a promising alternative in waste water treatment, allowing nutrient recovery from water, producing biomass which can be used for several purposes such as biogas production through anaerobic digestion, biofuel production or the extraction of lipids and proteins. Mathematical modeling of biological wastewater treatment processes has been extensively studied in recent years. Almost all of these models focus on the most common treatments such as activated sludge or anaerobic digestion processes. CALAGUA research group has developed a model that attempts to represent nutrient recovery from wastewater conducted by microalgae, considering the storage of various intracellular components (lipids and chlorophyll, etc.). DESASS (DEsign and Simulation of Activated Sludge Systems) is a software tool to design, simulate and optimizate of WWTPs, allowing to simulate most of the physical, chemical and biological processes taking place in treatment plants. The main objective of this research work is the implemention of the model of microalgae in DESASS so it is possible to simulate the wastewater treatment by microalgae cultures. For this has been necessary to incorporate the model microalgae into the global model BNRM2 extended which is run in DESASS. After that, some simlations have been carried out with a photobioreactor to study the microalgae behavior against parameters such as pH, temperature, cell retention time and the incident light.
