Management of CMV infections: recommendations from the infectious diseases working party of the EBMT

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection remains one of the most important complications of allogeneic stem cell transplantations (SCT) although the impact on morbidity and mortality has been reduced during the last decade by improvements to management. Several different advances have been made. The Infectious Diseases Working Party of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) has therefore produced recommendations reflecting recent changes. The recommendations are graded according to the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC).
