Zusammenfassung:Outcome after intestinal transplantation has improved dramatically since the introduction of novel immunosuppressive agents and refined surgical techniques. Small bowel transplantation is now considered to be the best treatment modality for patients with life threatening complications of intestinal failure and parenteral nutrition. We hereby review the international experience as well as the first ten cases of intestinal transplantation performed in Sweden.
