Accumulation of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes in freshwater crayfish – Effects of antibiotics as a pollutant

•Antibiotic resistance genes were analyzed in crayfish faeces.•Crayfish can accumulate antibiotic resistance genes in their intestine after a short time of SMX exposure.•Low concentration of sulfamethoxazole in the surrounding water causes accumulation of this antibiotic in crayfish tissues.
