Zusammenfassung: | This work gives a brief overview of the backgrounds of the self-consistent mean-field theory as applied to the problem of interaction betweencharge-regulated surfaces in the presence of polyelectrolytes. A general algorithm of obtaining a self-consistent solution is described, and the asymptotic properties of the solution at close separations are analysed.
Known limitations of the self-consistent field approximation are discussed highlighting the role of local effects and system equilibration. |
