Quantitative Analysis of Historical Material as the Basis for a New Cooperation Between History and Sociology (1980)

Reprint from: HSF Vol. 6 (1980), pp. 25-50. The author elucidates the difficulties to combine the respective formulations and conceptual apparatus of sociologists and historians. He introduces quantitative analysis of historical materials as a binding element and common empirical base. He describes the significance of common material and common technology which has yet to convince historians.
