Zusammenfassung: | Rainwater harvesting systems can alleviate strain on existing water sources, but fully realizing the potential of alternate water sources requires considering potable use of harvested rainwater. This chapter will review microbial and chemical contaminants found in rainwater harvesting systems and research on treatment of harvested rainwater. Finally, using the varied regulations across the USA, this chapter will review common requirements for potable rainwater harvesting systems. The chapter will conclude with recommendations for both effective regulation and system design. |
