Zusammenfassung:This patent relates to acoustics if you think about the sounds of letters while you type. It turns out that if you're typing in Chinese, you have little choice. One of the two standard written languages has thousands of characters and although it has been done, it is rather impractical to build keyboards to type using those characters. This patent describes a system which lets you type those phonetic sounds and then makes a valiant effort to convert the phonetics into the desired Chinese words. There is extensive error correction built in, both at the phonetics level and at the final word level, along with a learning module that gets to know the kinds of errors that you most frequently make while typing.-DLR
