Zusammenfassung: | Aluminium-based Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) have received increasing attention in recent decades as new generation engineering materials. The introduction of two or more reinforcements into a metal matrix produces hybrid composite material that results in an attractive combination of mechanical properties and tribological characteristics which cannot be obtained by single reinforcement. This makes them attractive for wider range of applications in automotive, aerospace and defense industries. These materials have desirable qualities such as high strength to weight ratio, high toughness and low value of coefficient of thermal stability, wear rate etc. This paper presents critical review on Mechanical Properties and Tribological Characteristics of Aluminium Hybrid MMCs. It has been notified that aluminium metal matrix composites with multiple reinforcement showing improved mechanical properties and tribological characteristics. The addition of silicon carbide increases the hardness, strength of Al Hybrid MMC. |
