Zusammenfassung: | This paper is emphasized over the study of synthesis, reaction mechanism, structures, kinetic parameters of SATF-IV copolymer resins. The salicylic acid, thiosemicarbazide and formaldehydes have been used in 4:2:7 molar ratio for the synthesis of SATF-IV copolymer. The reaction mixture is heated at 126 0 C using 2 molar HCl acid as catalyst for 5 hours in order to brought about the polymerization. The thermodynamic parameters like order of reactions, entropy changes, free energy changes, apparent entropy changes, frequency factor and activation energy have been studied using Freeman-Carroll and Sharp-Wentworth method. Spectral investigations of SATF-IV copolymer have been done by using UV-Visible, Infra-Red, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectral methods. On the basis of reaction mechanism, the possible structures of SATF-IV copolymer have been investigated. TG analysis and kinetic parameters suggested that the copolymers synthesized from higher molar proportions of Salicylic acid possess higher stability. This observation allows that, aromatic rings has been introduced in the polymer chain which enhances the stability of copolymers. This fact is further supported by spectral study of the copolymer resins and good magnitude of activation energy, of thermal degradation. |
