Zusammenfassung:The use of Fused Deposition Modeling (FMD) method in 3D Printing technology is a new innovation in the technology field. This technology is used in the medical field for healing fractures. Many filaments made from PCL and PLA are used as implants for damaged organs. The filament material has a weakness in terms of compressive strength. An alternative that can be done to improve the strength of the filament is by adding starch to the filament material. Making filaments made from janeng starch is appropriate because it does not disturb food stability and more economical. The study aims to determine the characteristics of janeng tuber starch as the basic material for making filaments. The research method used was water content, morphological and functional group analysis of starch content in janeng tubers. The results showed that the characteristics of janeng starch contained 16.83% of water, 83.17% of dry matter, and 0.27% of ash. FTIR analysis showed the content of O-H and C=C bonds so that the janeng tuber was confirmed to contain a dominant starch content with a regular rectangular morphology and ±2µm in size where the composition showed that janeng tuber could be used as raw material for making filaments.
