Zusammenfassung:The quantum mechanical energy-mismatched two-state system with cubic nonlinearity in its governing equation is surprisingly rich in its dynamics and has relevance to a number of subdisciplines of physics ranging from polaron phenomena to Bose–Einstein condensation. We review some of them that have been discussed recently and describe some new results that have not, pointing out their relevance in possible experiments.
