Zusammenfassung: | Extreme hydrological events, including floods and droughts, can have devastating consequences for society. These events occur due to changes in precipitation caused by climate change. Therefore, the rainfall data is highly beneficial for decision-makers in developing preventive measures to reduce the effects of climate change. A long and complete data set of rainfall is required to carry out the hydrological study successfully. This study selected the rainfall distribution in Kuantan River Basin since flash floods occur in Kuantan every year. The main objective of this study is to determine the rainfall trend at the Kuantan River Basin by analysing the rainfall data and identifying the best-fit probability distribution of rainfall trends. The analysis utilised annual and monthly maximum daily rainfall data from ten hydrological stations throughout the Kuantan River Basin from 1975 to 2021. The rainfall data are obtained from 10 hydrological stations throughout the Kuantan River Basin and then analysed from 1975 to 2021. The data will be sorted and extracted from every hydrological station according to the annual and monthly maximum daily rainfall data. The rainfall trend in the Kuantan River Basin is determined by analysing data from 1975 to 2021 using Log-Normal and Log-Pearson Type III Distribution. The distribution fitness will be evaluated using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test to determine the best-fit distribution for rainfall at the Kuantan River Basin. |
