Zusammenfassung: | Energy absorbing systems play a vital role to protect occupants in modern transportation system. Many authors tried to enhance these systems in different ways. The traditional way is using different material with high mechanical properties which increase the cost of this system. To enhance the ability absorbing systems, the cross-section of the thin tube has been changed in this study by adding square cross-section stiffeners along the tube with same cross-section area. This technique increased the absorbing energy by 319% with 16 stiffeners and 186% by increase the angle of stiffeners from 0° to 90°. Also using 16 stiffeners will enhance the deflection from 53mm to 45mm. Moreover, at the same number of stiffeners, the displacement decreased by 8% at a 90° angle of stiffener. |
