A review on the enhancement and applications of the bees algorithm

The Bees Algorithm (BA) has become widely used as an effective Swarm Intelligence tool in almost all areas of both optimization and engineering. For instance, various problems in several areas have been successfully solved using the BA and its modifications. To make the algorithm applicable to a variety of problems, the Standard BA has been modified or hybridized. Several publications that have improved and used the BA as an application were gathered and summarized for this comprehensive research to demonstrate that this algorithm can be applied to any problem arising in practice. Meanwhile, this study also helps new and experienced researchers by providing a better overview of the BA. The benefits and drawbacks of the algorithms and their implementation are discussed. Based on this overview, modifications to the BA can be divided into parameter tuning, clustering, updating the mechanisms, new mechanisms, and hybrid.
