Zusammenfassung:Flood disaster is still one of the common problems that often occurs in Indonesia, generally occurs in areas with denser populations such as urban areas. The risk caused by a disaster can be minimized by having an early warning system. This study aims to verify the early warnings issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) related to floods that occurred in South Kalimantan. To verify a prediction, in this study the Peirce Skill Score (PSS) method was used by looking at weather parameters such as precipitation and wind speed. The result from 6 research areas for 29 observational days show the PSS ± ePSS value was 0.2054 ± 0.1153 and the PSSr ± ePSSr value was 0 ± 0.1164. Moreover, the PSS ± ePSS value is 0.3077 ± 0.1223 and the value of PSSr ± ePSSr is 0 ± 0.1245 for precipitation. It means that the early warning issued by BMKG has resulted in too many false alarms, where BMKG predicts extreme weather will occur but in reality extreme weather does not occur.
