Zusammenfassung:An important task of material science is a prediction of material failure at different conditions. It especially has signifi-cance for application in nuclear, military and aerospace industries, where safety and reliability are required. One of the parameter describing material failure is the ultimate strain. This work is focused only at ultimate shear strain and fracture of material caused by processes of adiabatic shear bands (ASB) formation. Strain localization is investigated for two industrial materials: uranium alloy DU-0.75Ti and aluminum alloy Al 7039. For these two materials linear relation between maximum strain and nominal strain rate are demonstrated.
