Epigraphy analysis using image processing

Epigraphy is the investigation of engravings, or epigraphs, as composing; it is the study of recognizing graphemes, explaining their implications, arranging their purposes as per dates and social settings, and making determinations about the composition and the authors. Tamil is one of the oldest and currently spoken language in the world. OCR can be used but in case of handwritten texts it can’t recognize accurately. In this work, we propose a model that recognizes handwritten Tamil characters from the dataset. We use feature descriptors to obtain the features from the image and using the output from it we feed it to the CNN and SVM model and get desired output and results.
