Zusammenfassung: | Smart campus is a trend that has been actively implemented in universities as one of the strategic technologies that gives an impact to higher education. This paper proposes the iBeacon technology implementation in a smart campus. The primary goal of the technology implementation is to automate the current practices in a university campus, such as manual attendance and navigation, physical logbook and lab report, and many more with the goal of reaching the smart campus status. iBeacon utilises Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) making it easy to implement and low in cost which is a competent first step in transitioning, or introducing, modernisation to the regular campus infrastructure. This paper covers the fundamentals of iBeacon implementation methods and discusses on possible applications to the campus environment like auto-attendance, indoor navigation around campus and a new interactive learning method for students that mimic student-lecturer interaction during the study process. |
